Located in Stowe, Vermont at the recently renovated Field Guide hotel, Picnic Social is Northern Vermont’s newest dining and drinking establishment.

Featuring a cozy indoor fireplace seating area, as well as a large outdoor dining deck and firepit, Picnic Social is a place to eat, drink, relax and play. The food is simple, fresh, delicious, and sharable — reflecting the restaurant’s casual vibe and communal experience. More than just a dining destination, Picnic Social is a gathering spot for families and friends, the perfect venue for a boys’ or girls’ night out, or simply a place for a beer and bite after hitting the slopes, trails or sidewalks of Stowe.

Participate in our weekly cornhole league, play shuffleboard, or borrow one of our picnic blankets and enjoy your food on the back lawn. Hang at the bar, at a private table, or sit around the outdoor wood-burning firepit and toast marshmallows.

With casual favorites, such as juicy burgers and chicken pot pie, as well as sharable (and single portion) toasts, seasonal sides and salads, Picnic Social offers a menu and an atmosphere that are both accessible and original.

Chef Justin Perdue

rarebrick_20160420_7882Growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, Justin Perdue can remember cooking with his mom at home, where meatballs were a specialty, and watching the PBS series Great Chefs of the World in his free time. Flash forward and Justin worked with Bobby Flay’s New York City restaurant, Bar Americain, where he honed his skills while at attending NYC’s International Culinary Center.

Seeking a new challenge, Justin then moved to Chicago where he continued moving his way up the line at renowned kitchens, including NoMi inside the Park Hyatt Chicago, and Topolobampo, where he gained experience under famed chef Rick Bayless. Most recently, Justin worked within the Hotel Sofitel group as an Executive Chef, at both the Chicago and Philadelphia locations.

With a passion for both the industry and the creativity he encounters every day, Justin brings years of inspiration and education to his newest position as Executive Chef of Picnic Social. In Vermont, he looks forward to getting to know the state’s seasonal ingredients. When he isn’t working, Justin plans to tackle the scenic parks and trails of Stowe alongside his wife and two dogs.
